Peking to Paris — Driving the Impossible — Team #106

Garrick Staples (USA) and Robert McClements (UK) are driving a 1959 VW convertible that they have nicknamed ‘The Ladybird’, in the upcoming Peking to Paris Motor Challenge. Robert, who is Print Yorkshire’s Chief Executive, is raising money for The Printing Charity.

Invited by Garrick to be his co-driver and navigator, Robert is fulfilling his boyhood dream of taking part. Reading The Mad Motorists, the account of the 1907 challenge to take a horseless carriage from Peking to Paris grabbed his imagination as a schoolboy.
“We’re excited and nervous but conditions will be better than those in 1907 when there were no maps or petrol stations en route. We’ll be blogging our progress on this epic journey.”
